The technology exists: Lincoln had a prototype made and subsequently scrapped, I assume these guys are the engineers who worked on that project. Check out <a href="http://jalopnik.com/cars/found-on-ebay/the-1993-lincoln-mark-viii-rolling-door-concept-car-hides-your-heavy-doors-276295.php" rel="nofollow">this link</a> at Jalopnik which features the exact same system on a '93 Lincoln, on a post from June this year.
